Silk Road Tour In Kyrgyzstan

Kyzyl-Art – Sary-Tash – Osh – Chichkan Gorge – Son-Kul Lake – Naryn – Tash-Rabat - Kochkor – Bishkek

Itinerary:

Day 1

Cross Kyrgyz-Tajik border post Kyzyl-Art. Drive to Sary-Tash village (50 km - 1-2 hours). Dinner and overnight in local Kyrgyz family house.

Day 2

Breakfast. Transfer to Osh (180 km - 3 hours). City sightseeing: Suleiman – Mount and Museum at the foot of the mount, Famous Osh Bazaar (it open from 10:00 until 16:00). Overnight in home stay.

Day 3

Transfer to Chichkan Gorge via Karakhanids Mausoleum (XI-XII cen.) in Uzgen, Jalalabad along the picturesque mountain of Osh highway and Toktogul Reservoir (460 km - 8 hours). Overnight in a small guest house on the bank of the mountain river.

Day 4

Transfer to high-mountain Son-Kul Lake (300 km, ~ 6 hrs), which is located in a huge picturesque intermountain hollow at the altitude of 3000 m.a.s.l. There are fine opportunities for walking and horse-back riding, contacts with local shepherds, who have kept their way of life and traditions of their ancestry up to now. Accommodation in traditional Kyrgyz yurts.

Day 5

After breakfast transfer to Naryn (145 km - 3 hours). It is a long, narrow town that straddles the fast flowing Naryn River and is set between high, steep cliffs. Accommodation in home stay.

Day 6

Breakfast. Drive to Tash-Rabat (ca 3.500 m a.s.l., 115 km - 3 hours) which is situated in the picturesque Kara Koyjun canyon (‘Black Rabbit’), close to the Chinese border; it has been an important stopover  for the caravans along the Great Silk Road between Far East and Europe. Free programme: bird watching, hiking in the area (warmly recommended!). As options in Tash-Rabat (at an extra charge on the spot): horseback riding. Accommodation at Yurt Inn. Dinner.

Day 7

Breakfast in the yurt. Transfer to Kochkor village (230 km - 5 hours). Visit handicraft and souvenir shops, local museum and as option see making of the Kyrgyz national carpet "Shyrdak". Accommodation in Home Stay.

Day 8

After early breakfast drive to Bishkek (235 km - 4 hours). On the way excursion to Burana Tower (from the XI-th century). Upon arrival check in for accommodation at the hotel. If the time allows we visit the local market “Osh”-bazaar, famous for its exotic fruits and vegetables as well as a number of marvellous hand-made souvenirs.

Day 9

Early transfer to the airport (about midnight, 40 km) and departure.

Notes:

•  Yurt Inns operate from late June till early September
•  Accommodation in any Yurt Inn is usually 5-6 persons of the same gender in a yurt, however if the Yurt Inn will not be fully booked by the time of the group arrival, double occupancy may be arranged without extra fee
•  Weather in the area of Chickan, Son-Kul Lake, Tash-Rabat and other mountain areas of Kyrgyz Republic is quite cold even in summer time, and it is highly recommended to have warm clothes and raincoat.
