CHON-KEMIN
What’s so interesting about Chon-Kemin? If you don’t like wild life (mountain goats and sheep, boars, foxes, deer, bears, etc.), birds, picturesque meadows, conifer forests, rapid rivers full of fish….. then probably there is nothing interesting in Chon-Kemin.
The area lies in between Bishkek and Balykchy. It is famous as a nature reserve with lots of possibilities for outdoor activities: hiking, white-water rafting, fishing, trekking, including longer treks over to Issyk-Kul shore or to Kazakhstan.
And by the way, it is also the birthplace of the first president of Kyrgyzstan (Askar Akaev) whose life is described in a local museum.
