Description

Horse riding on Son-Kul is a great way to get acquainted with nomadic life. On this multi-day tour, we will travel through different climates, from semi-desert to tundra.

Day 1 – Arrival, Bishkek-Kochkor

Landing in Bishkek, breakfast, and transfer to Kochkor village. There we will visit the local felt factory, help them make felt carpets, listen to their stories, talk to the locals, and eat.

Accommodation: host family, family hotel, BLD

Day 2 – Kochkor – Kilemche – Jaman Echki (5-6 hours horse riding)

Early breakfast and transfer to the Jumgal Valley, the beginning of the trail under the Kyzart pass. We meet riders with trained horses. We pass the Kyzyl-Kiya prison and continue our way through the Chaar-Archa pass (3061 m) to the Chaar-Archa valley and have lunch in the Kilemshe prison overlooking Mount Baba-Ata at an altitude of 4400 m.

After lunch, we will continue our journey through the Lonely Karagay Pass (3400 m), Sonkol Mountains.

Accommodation: sleeping camp in Sonkol (4 people in a sleeping building), BPD

Day 3 – Jaman Echki – Tulpar Tash (4-6 hours Horse Riding)

After breakfast in the yurt, we will continue our tour on horseback to the south side of the lake. Lunch will be a picnic served in the middle of the beautiful nature. We will arrive at the Silk Road yurt camp in the evening.

Day 4 – Tulpar-Tash – Tulga-Tash (4-6 hours of Horse Riding)

After breakfast in the yurt, we will continue our equestrian tour and explore stone circles on the southern shore of Son-Kul Lake. “Tash-Tulga” or “Tulga-Tash” means heart, built of stones. In the archaeological literature, they are called “eight-stone memorial fences”. They date back to the 1st century BC.

Day 5 – Son-Kul Lake – Bishkek (300 km drive)

After breakfast with a local family, we say goodbye to the hosts and return to Bishkek. On the way, we will visit the tower of Burana Tower, preserved in the ancient city of Balasagyn (XI-XIII centuries). There we will enjoy a delicious lunch with a local family, visiting the museum exhibition of Dungan traditions. Arriving in Bishkek, we settled in a hotel. Then we will start our tour, where we will visit the central part of Bishkek, visit parks, get acquainted with the amazing places of the city, and also have lunch at a national cuisine restaurant.

Day 6 – Bishkek – Manas Airport

End of the tour. So, early in the morning, you will be picked up and brought to the airport for your flight home, having gained wonderful and lasting impressions from what you have seen and experienced.
